The beautiful thing about surrender is that though it seems like were giving up everything we love, for the benefit of Christ (which doesn't always seem too appealing, to be honest), really we are giving Him a pile of worthless pebbles & receiving a houseful of priceless jewels in return for Christs benefit of course but ours also.
Leslie Ludy paraphrases Philippians 3:8 like this, "I eagerly gave up all my prized possessions, I unhesitantly forgo the pleasure of my most intimate friendships and without reservations, I void all my greatest achievements for the amazing and priceless opportunity to intimately know, love, and serve my heavenly Prince, Jesus Christ."
Ahh that is the way I want to live. No matter what desire, dream, talent, pleasure, or possession I have, I want to be totally and completely willing to give it up for the sake of this unending, unfailing, beautiful, & graceful love that has already been freely given to me through the most selfless sacrifice ever to be made. Wow. I am loved, and this Lover of mine, deserves all that He gave me. So it is my duty, yet my pleasure to give it all back in worship. Every gift, talent, skill, desire, dream, possesion, everything God has blessed me with, I want to give back to, by glorifying Him in all that I do.
I want to be the one that, at any moment, God knows He can count on to drop anything and everything in obedience to His plan. Nothing else matters, but taking part in the greatest thing of all, LOVE.
